    Dramatic actors...they're so goddamn dramatic!

This auto/biography (told by her to a biographer, who patched it all together) mostly discusses Judi Dench's time in the theater, so there's plenty of scenes relayed about actors behaving badly. Not only actors, but directors as well...and it seemed to me, mostly men. I don't think Dench intended to bag on theater dudes. It just happens that, for some reason, the male of the species often acts atrociously towards their fellows. I think the embarrassingly obvious, child-like lies are the worst. But I digress. After years of refusing to put her incredible life story down on paper Dame Judi Dench is writing her autobiography. The doyenne of the British film and theatre world will pen the tome, titled And Furthermore, with biographer John Miller, reports the Daily Express.

Weidenfeld & Nicolson is delighted to have acquired the rights to the long-awaited book (to be released as a hardback in October) from Dame Judi, now 75. Although details of the deal haven’t been disclosed it is thought that the actress sold the rights for a six-figure sum.

Her career spans 50 years of acting on stage, film and television. She has won nine BAFTAs, seven Laurence Olivier Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, an Oscar, two Golden Globes and a Tony award.

However, W&N tells The Bookseller that And Furthermore will be “much more than a career record” and will include her account of her 30-year marriage to actor Michael Williams, who died from lung cancer in 2001.
